Willow

Plant with Willow makes smart sensors for indoor plants that measure soil moisture, light, temperature, and humidity. They help you know when to water, when a plant needs more light, and when the room is too dry, cold, or warm. With Homey, those readings become part of your smart home.

Plant Care, Based on Real Conditions

The Willow Sensor sits in the soil and continuously measures soil moisture, ambient light, temperature, and humidity. It connects to the Willow Hub over Bluetooth, while the Hub connects to your home Wi-Fi. One Hub supports up to 40 sensors, making it useful for anything from a single plant to a room full of greenery.

What makes Willow different from a basic moisture sensor is that each reading is linked to a specific plant. During setup, you choose the plant from Willow’s library of more than 1,200 species. From then on, Willow understands that a moisture level that is fine for a succulent may be too dry for a fern.

You can choose a growth goal, from simply keeping a plant alive to helping it thrive. Willow adjusts its advice around that goal, while taking seasonal changes, local weather, and plant dormancy into account.

Smarter Than a Watering Reminder

Most plant care apps work from a schedule. Willow works from the plant itself. If the soil is still moist, it stays quiet. If a plant needs water, light drops too low, or the room becomes too dry, Willow lets you know based on what the sensor actually measures.

The app can also automatically log watering events, identify plants from a photo, and help you understand what is happening when a plant starts to struggle. Willow Grow subscribers can also get advice from Willow’s in-house horticulturist.

Plant Care, Automated

The Willow app for Homey connects the Willow Hub and brings each sensor’s readings into your Flows. Soil moisture, light, temperature, and humidity all work as triggers or conditions.

When the soil gets too dry, Homey can start a connected watering kit, flash a light, or send a message to your household. Dropping light levels can open smart blinds or switch on a grow light. When humidity falls too low, it can turn on a humidifier. And because the sensor sits right in the room, temperature readings can sharpen your other automations too.
