Official support for Tuya
Update December 2025: We’ve released a new Tuya app for Homey. This is a separate app, built with a different authentication method than before.
If you already have the old Tuya app installed, it will continue to work as long as Tuya allows it. You don’t need to take any action.
New users, or those who want to switch, can install the latest app from the Homey App Store. It supports the same device types and works with both the Tuya Smart and Smart Life apps.
As before, continued functionality ultimately depends on Tuya’s platform and policies.
Update February 2025: In 2024, we proudly announced our partnership with Tuya to improve device support in the Homey ecosystem. However, Tuya unexpectedly revoked API access, breaching our agreement and leaving many smart homes in the dark.
We’ve been working with Tuya to resolve this issue for months. Unfortunately, it has become evident that a resolution is unlikely, soon or at all. Tuya’s solution uses its TUYA CUBE API, which requires a paid license and differs significantly from the TUYA IoT Core we previously used. Given the high costs and complexities, we cannot proceed with this option.
As a result, the official Tuya App for Homey currently does not work for new users, showing an error message stating “No matching app user information.” In the future, the app might also stop working for existing users.
We have ceased development on this app and removed it from the Homey App Store. The community-developed Tuya app remains available for users seeking alternatives. Yet, this option requires creating a developer account and may involve additional setup steps.
At Homey, we strive to collaborate with partners to make smart homes better together. We work with over 250 official Works with Homey partners and hope Tuya will reconsider joining us on this mission in the future.

Tuya is present in over 200 countries and regions, making it one of the most widely used IoT platforms. Its white-label solutions allow businesses to brand their smart devices, and its Smart Life app offers an interface for managing them.
Connecting devices
The Tuya App for Homey is compatible with the Tuya Smart and Smart Life app for iOS and Android. Before connecting your Tuya devices to Homey, link them to one of these apps first. We have documented the necessary steps in our Knowledge Base to get you up and running.
Teaming up
