Introducing Device Updates
You can now update Matter, Z-Wave, and Zigbee devices directly from Homey, without switching to a separate app or hub.
Smart locks, sensors, and bulbs run on software, just like your phone. Updating them used to mean leaving Homey to open a manufacturer’s app or reconnect a bridge.
With Device Updates, you can now install a security patch for a Z-Wave lock, improve a Zigbee sensor’s reliability, or update a Matter device right from Homey.
Check for updates at More (…) → Settings → Device Updates in the Homey Mobile App or Homey Web App. You can also open a device’s settings and go to Maintenance.

How updates are delivered
For Z-Wave and Zigbee devices, updates are delivered through their respective Homey apps, so availability depends on the app developer and manufacturer.
IKEA, Aeotec, INNR, Niko, Inovelli, Zooz, frient, ThirdReality, EcoDim, HeatIt, Namron, amina, CTM Lyng, and Nous have already added support, with more to follow.
For Matter devices, Homey fetches updates directly from the Connectivity Standards Alliance’s Distributed Compliance Ledger, independent of any Homey app.
If you don’t see an update you expected, It’s usually because the device’s Homey app doesn’t offer it yet, or because the manufacturer hasn’t published it yet.
See the Device Updates guide for details.
Availability
Device Updates are available on Homey Cloud, Homey Pro (2023 — 2026), Homey Pro mini, and Homey Self-Hosted Server.
