When...

All installations
Total expected power goes ... 3000 W
i
The expected solar power of all installations together. Fires once each time it crosses the level. For example: above 3000 W, start the heat pump boiler.
All installations
Measured power has been ... 1500 W for 10 min
i
What the panels really make now, not the forecast. For example: start charging the car when the measured power has been above 2000 W for 10 minutes. Over all installations together. The minutes make the card wait until it has held that long: 0 reacts at once, 10 skips a passing cloud.
All installations
Today’s measured production reaches 10 kWh
i
Fires once a day, when the measured total of today passes this level. For example: start the dishwasher once 10 kWh came in today. Over all installations together.
All installations
What is still to come today drops below 10 kWh
i
Fires once a day per level. For example: stop the boiler on the sun when less than 2 kWh is still to come today. Over all installations together.
All installations
Today’s best 3 hour window starts
i
The hours with the most expected solar energy. For example: start the dishwasher when today’s best 2 hour window starts. Over all installations together.
All installations
Daily report of all installations at ...
i
Once a day at this time: today measured against expected, and tomorrow, over all installations together, also as a ready sentence. For example: send the summary as a push message at 20:00.
Solar installation
The forecast was updated
i
Fires after every new forecast, every 30 minutes unless changed in the device settings. For example: write tomorrow's total to a variable for a dashboard.
Solar installation
Expected power goes ... 1500 W
i
Fires once each time the expected solar power crosses the level. For example: above 2000 W switch on the boiler, and with a second Flow below 500 W switch it off.
Solar installation
Today's best 3 hour window starts
i
Fires once a day, at the start of the hours with the most expected solar energy today. For example: with 2 hours, switch on the plug of the dishwasher you loaded in the morning.
Solar installation
The panels produce clearly less than expected
i
Fires after two hours in a row with a clear shortfall: one plane far behind the others, or everything below the cautious estimate. Think of a tripped string, a fault in the inverter or snow. For example: send a push message to check the inverter.
Solar installation
Daily report
i
Fires once a day at the time set in the device settings (21:00 unless changed). The summary token is a ready sentence for a push message. For example: set the time to 20:00 and send the summary as a push message. The two value tokens give what the panels brought so far, in the currency of Homey Energy: the solar power used at home at the grid price plus what went to the grid at the feed-in price. Without a price they are 0.
Solar installation
The panels may need cleaning
i
Fires when the yield on sunny days of the last two weeks is 10 % or more below the six weeks before, without a weather reason. For example: send yourself a reminder to clean them.
Solar installation
The panels did worse than normal today
i
Fires at 22:30 when the panels made clearly less (15 % or more) than they normally make in the sunlight that actually reached your roof today, measured by satellite. Unlike "The panels produce clearly less than expected", bad weather never sets this one off; a tripped string or a fault on a sunny day does. Needs five days with sun to know what is normal. For example: send yourself a message to check the inverter.
Solar installation
One of today's 3 sunniest hours starts
i
Sunniest means the most expected energy in that hour, with the learned correction, the same forecast the device shows. Fires once, at the start of each such hour. For example: with 3 hours, run the pool pump in the 3 sunniest hours.
Solar installation
Still to come today drops below 5 kWh
i
Fires once a day, when the expected energy for the rest of today goes from this level or more to less. For example: below 2 kWh, stop charging the car on the sun.
Solar installation
Tomorrow's forecast changed by more than 20 %
i
Compares tomorrow's total after every forecast refresh with the total of the refresh before. Totals under 0.5 kWh are not compared. 20 % is a good start. For example: send a push message with Before and Now when tomorrow drops sharply.
Solar installation
Expected surplus goes above 1500 W
i
Surplus is the expected solar power minus the usual house load at this hour. Needs a house consumption source in the app settings, tab Measurement. Runs once each time the level is crossed. For example: above 1500 W, switch on the boiler.
Solar installation
The sun ... on Roof plane for 15 min
i
Fires when the sun comes in front of this roof plane, or leaves it, also when it goes behind an obstacle of the measured horizon. Clouds do not count here. For example: start the dishwasher when the sun starts shining on the west roof plane. The minutes make the card wait until it has held that long: 0 reacts at once, 15 waits until the sun has really cleared the edge.
Solar installation
The sun ... for 15 min
i
Uses the trees and buildings around the roof, measured from a height map when the roof was looked up by address. Without a measured horizon it never fires. For example: raise the sunscreen when the sun goes behind the trees of the neighbours. The minutes make the card wait until it has held that long: 0 reacts at once, 15 waits until the sun has really cleared the edge.
Solar installation
Direct sunlight ... a surface facing ... at 90° for 15 min
i
For a window, wall or terrace: the sun is in front of it, not behind an obstacle, and your panels show it is really sunny (measured power, or the forecast when nothing is measured). 90° is a wall or window, 0° is flat. For example: lower the sunscreen when direct sunlight starts falling on a surface facing south-west at 90°. The minutes make the card wait until the change has held that long: 0 reacts at once, 15 skips a passing cloud.
Solar installation
Measured power has been ... 1500 W for 10 min
i
What the panels really make now, not the forecast. For example: start charging the car when the measured power has been above 2000 W for 10 minutes. Uses the power the app measures from your inverter, Homey Energy or a Flow; without a measurement it never fires. The minutes make the card wait until it has held that long: 0 reacts at once, 10 skips a passing cloud.
Solar installation
A roof plane makes much less than the others
i
Compares the measured power of each roof plane with its own forecast. When one plane makes less than half of what the best other plane makes for half an hour, it fires once that day for that plane: a failed string, shade or dirt. It needs a measurement per roof plane. For example: send a push message with the roof plane and the percentage.
Solar installation
Today’s measured production reaches 10 kWh
i
Fires once a day, when the measured total of today passes this level. For example: start the dishwasher once 10 kWh came in today.
Solar installation
The panels ...
i
Measured, not the sunrise: starting is the first 10 minutes of the day above 1 % of the peak power (at least 50 W), stopping is the last 20 minutes below it in the evening. Once a day each. For example: turn off the outdoor lights when the panels start producing.
Solar installation
...
i
Follows the snow depth of the weather models for this hour, from 1 cm. For example: send a reminder to brush the panels when snow on the panels is expected.
Solar installation
The price turns negative while a surplus is expected
i
Fires once per stretch of negative prices from Homey Energy, about 15 minutes before it starts, when the forecast expects solar power left over in that stretch. Needs dynamic prices in Homey Energy. For example: limit the inverter, or switch on the boiler and charge the car instead of sending power to the grid.
Solar installation
The car charging plan changed
i
Fires when the active plan, made again every 15 minutes and after a new forecast or new prices, comes out different: other amounts from the sun or the grid, another cost or ready time, or no longer ready in time. For example: send a push message when ready in time turns to no.
Solar installation
The quarter-hour peak is about to exceed empty: the level from the settings kW
i
For the capacity tariff in Flanders. Fires once per quarter hour when this quarter would end above the level if the power taken from the grid now goes on, with at least 3 minutes left to act. Leave the level empty to use the level from the device settings, or else the peak of this month so far, at least 2.5 kW. Needs the capacity tariff switched on in the device settings and the power taken from the grid known (a grid meter, or a house meter with the inverter). For example: at 4 kW, pause the car charger.
Solar installation
A new monthly peak was set
i
For the capacity tariff in Flanders. Fires when a quarter hour ends with the highest average power taken from the grid of this month, once it is above the 2.5 kW that is always billed. Needs the capacity tariff switched on in the device settings. For example: send a push message with the peak and the time.

And...

All installations
Tomorrow's ... total production is above 20 kWh
i
Tomorrow's total of all installations together. The cautious level is reached 9 days out of 10. For example: charge the home battery from the grid tonight only when the cautious total is not above 10 kWh.
All installations
Measured power has been ... 1500 W for at least 10 min
i
What the panels really make now, not the forecast. For example: when the washing machine is ready, start it only if the measured power has been above 1500 W for 5 minutes. Over all installations together. The minutes ask that it has held that long: 0 looks at this moment only.
All installations
More than 10 kWh was measured today
i
Looks at the measured total of today. For example: only run the pool pump in the afternoon when more than 8 kWh was measured today. Over all installations together.
All installations
What is still to come today is above 10 kWh
i
For example: only start the washing machine on the sun when more than 4 kWh is still to come today. Over all installations together.
All installations
Expected power now is above 1500 W
i
The forecast for this moment, not the measurement. For example: switch on the dehumidifier only when the expected power is above 1000 W. Over all installations together.
All installations
Tomorrow ... is above 10 kWh
i
Morning and afternoon split at solar noon. For example: charge the battery at night only when tomorrow morning stays below 3 kWh. Over all installations together.
All installations
It is within today’s best 3 hour window
i
For example: when the washing machine reports it is ready, start it only within the best 2 hour window. Over all installations together.
All installations
An installation makes clearly less than expected
i
True while one of the installations raises its alarm for clearly less than expected. For example: skip the daily report when an installation is not well.
All installations
... reaches 60 % of a clear day
i
Compares the forecast with what your roof makes on a clear day of that date, so one Flow works the whole year: 15 kWh is a top day in December and a grey one in June. For example: charge the home battery from the grid at night only when tomorrow does not reach 40 % of a clear day. Over all installations together.
All installations
All installations: now is among the 4 cheapest hours ...
i
The same as the card on one installation, counting the sun: the expected solar power of all installations together. For example: with 3 hours of today, run the pool pump only in those hours.
Solar installation
Tomorrow's ... production is above 10 kWh
i
Compares tomorrow's total with the level. Choose cautious when a wrong guess costs money: that level is reached 9 days out of 10. For example: charge the home battery from the grid tonight only when tomorrow's cautious production is not above 8 kWh.
Solar installation
Still to come today is above 5 kWh
i
Checks the expected energy from now until sunset. For example: at 13:00 start the washing machine only when more than 5 kWh is still to come.
Solar installation
Expected production between ... and ... today is above 3 kWh
i
Adds up the expected energy between the two times today. For example: between 11:00 and 15:00 above 6 kWh, then let the car wait for the sun.
Solar installation
It is within today’s best 3 hour window
i
True during today's best window of this length: the hours with the most expected solar energy. For example: when the washing machine reports it is ready, start it only when it is within the best 2 hour window.
Solar installation
Expected power now is above 1500 W
i
Checks the expected solar power at this moment, with the learned correction. For example: run the pool pump only while more than 1500 W is expected.
Solar installation
Tomorrow ... is above 5 kWh
i
Morning runs until solar noon (in Belgium around 13:45 in summer and 12:45 in winter), afternoon from then on. For example: plan the washing for tomorrow morning when the morning is above 4 kWh.
Solar installation
The expected production ... is above 10 kWh
i
Compares the expected total of a day up to six days ahead with the level. Today counts what was measured so far plus the rest of the forecast. Days further ahead are less certain. For example: plan the laundry on the day after tomorrow only when that day is expected above 15 kWh.
Solar installation
The panels produce clearly less than expected
i
True while the alarm Producing less than expected is on: two hours in a row with a clear shortfall. For example: add a warning line to your evening push message.
Solar installation
Snow is expected on the panels
i
True when at least 1 cm of snow is expected on the panels this hour; the forecast is lower then. For example: skip the reminder to charge the car on the sun.
Solar installation
The current hour is one of today's 3 sunniest hours
i
Sunniest means the most expected energy in that hour, with the learned correction, the same forecast the device shows. For example: with 3 hours, let the heat pump heat the water only in those hours.
Solar installation
Expected surplus is above 1500 W for the next 60 minutes
i
Checks every quarter hour in that time against the forecast and the usual house load. Needs a house consumption source. For example: start the dishwasher when the surplus stays above 1800 W for the next 120 minutes.
Solar installation
The home battery will be full today
i
Based on the state of charge now and the expected surplus for the rest of today. Needs a home battery in the app settings, tab Measurement. For example: when it will be full anyway, let the car charge on the sun first.
Solar installation
The sun has been shining on Roof plane for at least 15 min
i
True while the sun is in front of this roof plane and not behind an obstacle of the measured horizon. Clouds do not count here. For example: charge the car on the sun only while the sun shines on roof plane 2. The minutes ask that it has held that long: 0 looks at this moment only.
Solar installation
The sun has been behind an obstacle for at least 15 min
i
True while the sun is up but hidden by a tree or building of the measured horizon. Without a measured horizon it is never true. For example: skip lowering the sunscreen in the evening when the sun is already behind the trees. The minutes ask that it has held that long: 0 looks at this moment only.
Solar installation
Direct sunlight has been falling on a surface facing ... at 90° for at least 15 min
i
True while the sun is in front of this surface, not behind an obstacle, and your panels show it is really sunny. 90° is a wall or window, 0° is flat. For example: when the living room gets warmer than 24 °C, lower the sunscreen only if direct sunlight falls on a surface facing south at 90°. The minutes ask that it has held that long: 0 looks at this moment only.
Solar installation
Measured power has been ... 1500 W for at least 10 min
i
What the panels really make now, not the forecast. For example: when the washing machine is ready, start it only if the measured power has been above 1500 W for 5 minutes. The minutes ask that it has held that long: 0 looks at this moment only.
Solar installation
Roof plane makes much less than the others
i
True while this roof plane has made less than half of what the best other plane makes, compared with each own forecast, for half an hour. For example: skip the daily report on a day when roof plane 2 lags.
Solar installation
More than 10 kWh was measured today
i
Looks at the measured total of today. For example: only run the pool pump in the afternoon when more than 8 kWh was measured today.
Solar installation
... reaches 60 % of a clear day
i
Compares the forecast with what your roof makes on a clear day of that date, so one Flow works the whole year: 15 kWh is a top day in December and a grey one in June. For example: charge the home battery from the grid at night only when tomorrow does not reach 40 % of a clear day.
Solar installation
Now is among the 4 cheapest hours ..., counting the sun
i
Ranks the hours by what 1 kWh really costs in them: the part the expected surplus covers counts at the feed-in price you give up, the rest at the grid price. Prices from Homey Energy, or the fixed and feed-in prices on the app settings page, tab Measurement. For example: with 4 hours of today, let the heat pump heat the water only in those hours.
Solar installation
The electricity price is below 0.10 per kWh
i
Compares the grid price of this moment with the level, in the currency of your contract per kWh. The price comes from Homey Energy, or from the fixed price on the app settings page, tab Measurement. For example: below 0.10, start the dishwasher.
Solar installation
The electricity price is negative
i
The grid price of this moment, from Homey Energy or the fixed price on the app settings page, tab Measurement. For example: only switch off the inverter while the price is negative.
Solar installation
Now is a planned hour to charge the battery from the grid
i
Follows the plan of the card "Plan charging the home battery from the grid". Without a plan from the last 18 hours it makes one first. Only true when charging is worth it. For example: every 15 minutes at night, set the battery to charge from the grid when this is true and back to normal when it is not.
Solar installation
The car is planned to charge now
i
True when the active car charging plan has the car charging in this quarter of an hour and the goal is not reached yet. It does not look at the live sun; "Charging power for the car now" does. For example: every 15 minutes, switch the charger on when this is true and off when it is not.
Solar installation
The quarter-hour power is above empty: the level from the settings kW, based on ...
i
The average power taken from the grid in this quarter hour: where it ends if the power now goes on, or the average so far. Leave the level empty for the level from the device settings, or else the peak of this month so far, at least 2.5 kW. Needs the capacity tariff switched on and a grid reading in the last 5 minutes. For example: only start the dryer when the expected end is not above 4 kW.

Find the cheapest start over all installations for 2000 W during 120 minutes ...
i
The same as the card on one installation, with the solar power of all installations together and the house load learned by the first installation that has a consumption source. For example: a dishwasher of 1800 W for 150 minutes in the next 24 hours.
Advanced
Solar installation
Report measured solar power of 2450 W
i
Run this at least every few minutes with the power of your panels, not your inverter output with battery. The device uses it to measure what you really produced and to learn. For example: when the power of your inverter changes, run this card with that power as a token.
Solar installation
Report solar energy meter of 19830.4 kWh
i
A total or a daily yield counter both work. When you report a meter, reported power is ignored. For example: every 5 minutes with the daily yield of the inverter.
Solar installation
Report 1850 W measured on Roof plane
i
For inverters that report every string. Feed each plane at least every few minutes; then every plane learns its own correction and a failing string stands out. For example: PV1 power on roof plane 1 and PV2 power on roof plane 2.
Solar installation
Report 398 V and 6.4 A on Roof plane
i
Many inverter apps show the voltage and current of each string (PV1, PV2) but not its power. This card multiplies them for you. For example: PV1 voltage and PV1 current on roof plane 1.
Solar installation
Find the best 3 hour window ...

Solar installation
Find the best start for 2000 W during 120 minutes ...
i
Picks the start where the sun covers the largest share of what the appliance uses. Per quarter hour only the solar power up to the appliance's own power counts, so a short peak does not win over a steady stretch. For example: dishwasher 1800 W for 120 minutes in the rest of today, then wait Minutes until start and switch on its plug.
Advanced

i
Power in W per 15 minutes for one day, or per hour for both days, with the day total and the cautious total in kWh. Hours without sun at the start and end of a day are left out. For example: pass it to a HomeyScript that draws its own chart.
Advanced

Battery plan
i
Whether the home battery gets full today, at what time, and how many kWh it still lacks to be full by tomorrow evening. For example: at 22:00, charge from the grid when the shortfall is above 3 kWh. For a plan that also handles a grey day: Battery plan on the cautious forecast.
Advanced
Solar installation
Battery plan on the cautious forecast
i
The same as Battery plan, but counting on the cautious forecast, which is reached 9 days out of 10. Use it when a wrong guess costs money. For example: at 22:00, charge from the grid when the shortfall is above 3 kWh, so a grey day does not leave the battery empty. When only one weather model is available, it gives the same as Battery plan.
Advanced

Leave prices empty to use the dynamic prices of Homey Energy, or fill in a JSON list of prices per kWh from a price app (24 hourly or 96 quarter-hourly numbers from midnight, or objects with a time and a price). For example: washing machine 2000 W for 180 minutes in the next 24 hours.

Plan charging the home battery from the grid
i
Looks at the cautious forecast of tomorrow, the battery level and the learned house load, works out how much the battery still needs from the grid tonight to get through to the sun, and picks the cheapest hours before the morning. Worth it is no when the sun fills the battery anyway or when the grid energy it saves costs less than the energy it buys. Needs a home battery and a house consumption source on the app settings page, tab Measurement, and prices. For example: at 22:00 run this card, and when worth it is yes, use the condition about planned hours to switch the battery to grid charging.
Advanced
Solar installation
Battery grid charging power now
i
Gives the power the plan of the card "Plan charging the home battery from the grid" has for now, 0 when now is not a planned hour. Set the charge power of the battery to it, so the quarter hour stays under the level of the capacity tariff. Without a plan from the last 18 hours it makes one first. For example: every 15 minutes at night, run this card and set the grid charge power of the battery to the power token.
Advanced
Solar installation
The panels are limited or switched off, until a time, or empty: until they are on again
i
Tells the app that the panels are held back on purpose, to avoid a negative price or for an export limit. Those hours then teach the learning nothing and do not count for the panel warning, the lagging roof plane or the soiling check. Fill in a time such as 17:00, or leave it empty and use the card "The panels produce normally again". An hour with a negative price in which the panels make less than 15 % of the forecast counts as limited by itself. For example: when the price turns negative, switch off the inverter and run this card until 17:00.
Solar installation
The panels produce normally again
i
Ends a limit set with the card "The panels are limited or switched off"; from now on the hours count for learning again. For example: when the price is positive again, switch the inverter back on and run this card.
Solar installation
Plan 20 kWh for the car before ..., ..., charger 1400 to 7400 W, up to 0 % grid at minimum, ... forecast
i
Plans per quarter of an hour how the car gets this many kWh before that time. Sun only charges on the expected surplus of the panels, with the learned house load taken off. Sun first, grid when needed adds grid power in the cheapest quarters, only for what the sun does not deliver in time. Cheapest weighs every quarter on its price, the sun counted at the feed-in price you give up. Below its minimum power a charger cannot run: a quarter with less sun is skipped, unless the grid part stays within the share you allow. The plan is kept on the device and made again every 15 minutes. Cost is the grid energy at the grid price plus the sun energy at the feed-in price. For example: when the car is plugged in, plan 20 kWh before 07:00, charger 1400 to 7400 W, sun first, and run "Charging power for the car now" every minute.
Advanced
Solar installation
Plan the car to 80 %, battery 60 kWh now at 35 %, before ..., ..., charger 1400 to 7400 W, up to 0 % grid at minimum, ... forecast
i
The same plan as "Plan charging the car with a number of kWh", for a target level: it works out the kWh from the size of the car battery, the level now and the target, and counts with 90 % charging efficiency. For example: plan the car to 80 % with a battery of 60 kWh now at 35 %, before 07:00, sun first.
Advanced
Solar installation
Charging power for the car now, on ..., the car takes What the car takes now in W W now
i
Gives the power and current to set on the charger now, from the active car charging plan. 0 means stop, also without a plan. In the sun modes it follows the live surplus up to the maximum power. For the best result, fill in the power the charger measures now: without it the power only rises step by step with the surplus that is really there. With the capacity tariff switched on, the power never takes the quarter hour over its level. For example: every minute, run this card with the power of the charger as a token and set the charging current of your charger to the current token.
Advanced
Solar installation
The car has charged 6.5 kWh so far
i
Tells the active plan what the charger really delivered since the plan started, so it plans only the rest. Use the energy of the charging session. Without this card the plan counts the power handed out by "Charging power for the car now". For example: every 15 minutes, run this card with the session energy of your charger as a token.
Solar installation
Stop the car charging plan
i
Ends the active plan. "Charging power for the car now" then gives 0, and the plan is no longer made again. A plan also ends by itself at its deadline. For example: when the car is unplugged, run this card.
Solar installation
Work out the power still free this quarter hour, staying under empty: the level from the settings kW
i
Gives the extra power you can switch on now, on top of what the house takes from the grid, so this quarter hour ends at or below the level. 0 means switch something off. Leave the level empty for the level from the device settings, or else the peak of this month so far, at least 2.5 kW. Needs the capacity tariff switched on and a grid reading in the last 5 minutes. For example: every minute, run this card and allow the heat pump or the car charger at most the available power.

What’s new

Version 2.5.0 — The app now reads electricity prices by itself, with price cards and a plan to charge the home battery from the grid in the cheapest hours. A car charging plan on the sun, the Flemish capacity tariff, and daily messages without a Flow. The settings page shows what the panels brought in money, and the forecast looks seven days ahead. Hours with a negative price and panels you switched off no longer teach the learning anything wrong. The cautious estimate also learns from your own past days, and expected today counts what was measured in the hours behind you. Also in Spanish, Italian and Polish.
