Your ventilation unit runs quietly in the background all year, but it rarely knows what is going on in the rest of your home. This app brings it into your Flows. Read supply, extract, outdoor and exhaust temperatures, humidity, fan speeds, bypass damper position and remaining filter life, and set the operating mode or fan level from any automation. Boost ventilation when the bathroom humidity spikes, drop to a low level while nobody is home, or get a notification the day the filter actually needs replacing instead of six months late.
Your unit decides for itself whether to open the bypass, but it has no notion of wanting the house cooler sooner: once the damper is open, the cold air arrives at whatever rate the fans happen to be running. Hand control to Homey and the app fixes that. While the house is above the temperature you asked for and the air outside is genuinely colder, it runs the fans up to shift more of it, and gives the fan level and operating mode straight back on arrival. Two plain questions replace the four bypass thresholds the controller exposes — how cool you want the house, and the coldest outdoor air you are willing to use — and one menu says who is in charge, the unit or Homey. Set it back to normal operation and the app lets go of everything at once. Nothing on the unit is ever erased: the commissioning, the bypass temperatures and the filter life stay exactly where your installer put them. And when it is warmer outside than in — a hot afternoon, or a heat pump cooling the house — the bypass shuts and the exchanger runs the other way: the cool air on its way out chills the warm air on its way in. Ventilating then costs you far less of the cooling you have paid for.
Two dashboard widgets come with it. The detailed one draws the heat exchanger itself, with the two air streams crossing through it and the recovery efficiency in the middle; the compact one answers whether the unit is running and how hard. Enter the airflow figures from your commissioning report and the app will also show cubic metres per hour, estimated power draw, and the kilowatts of heat the exchanger is handing back rather than sending out through the roof.
Everything runs locally over Modbus TCP on your own network, so it keeps working when the internet does not, and no data leaves your home. Requires Homey Pro.
