Python for Homey apps, battery levels, and ELTAKO
Build Homey apps with Python
Opening the door to even more integrations.
Python is now a supported language for building Homey apps, alongside JavaScript and TypeScript. This opens Homey to more developers, ultimately bringing new integrations to your smart home.
Dutch developer Guido van Rossum named Python after Monty Python’s Flying Circus when he began working on it around Christmas 1989. The snake only appeared later, in the logos.

Quickly see which device batteries need replacing.
The Batteries overview has been refreshed and moved to the Devices tab in the Homey Mobile App. Here you can see battery levels across your devices, spot which ones need replacing, and what battery type they use. You can also choose which devices to monitor.
You can add the controls at the top of the Devices tab to your Homey Dashboards as a widget. Find it under the Zone category.
Homey × ELTAKO
ELTAKO now works with Homey.
The official ELTAKO app is now live in the Homey App Store. Connect ELTAKO’s Matter-enabled Series 64 devices to Homey and use them in your Flows. Turn on lights when someone arrives, switch off devices when no one is home, or adjust heating based on sensor readings.
ELTAKO has been building electrical installation devices since 1949, long before the term “smart home” even existed.
