Sky Q for Homey
Control and monitor your Sky Q box directly from Homey - no Home Assistant or other software required. The app talks to your Sky Q box over your local network.
WHAT IT DOES
Live TV and recordings
- See the channel name and number, programme title, synopsis, genre and age rating for whatever you're watching - live or recorded.
- Programme artwork is shown in the device view.
- Works with HD and UHD channels, including Sky Sports and TNT Sports.
Apps
- Detects when a streaming app (YouTube, Netflix, Disney+, etc.) is open and shows its name and logo.
- Reflects play and pause state inside apps.
Playback and remote control
- Playback status: Playing, Paused, Fast Forwarding, Rewinding, Stopped.
- Send any remote key, change channel by number or name, play/pause/stop/skip.
- Power the box on (via Wake-on-LAN) and to standby.
Recording
- Search the TV guide by keyword and automatically schedule recordings.
Flows
- Triggers for channel changes, playback start/stop/pause/resume, power on, standby and app changes.
- Conditions for what's playing, the current channel, genre, live vs recording, and more.
- Actions for every remote function.
SETTING UP
1. Find your Sky Q box's IP address: on the box, go to Settings > Setup > Network > Advanced settings.
2. In Homey, add the Sky Q device and enter that IP address when prompted (or let the app search your network for you).
3. Your Sky Q box and Homey must be on the same network. A fixed/static IP for the box is recommended so the connection doesn't drop if the address changes.
NOTES
- The box exposes the app name and play/pause state when using streaming apps, but not the specific video/show title playing inside them - this is a limitation of the Sky Q box itself.
- App logos are bundled with this app for common services. Other apps show a generic icon.
This app is not affiliated with or endorsed by Sky.
