Smart heating
Professional predictive heating control for Homey
Smart heating helps Homey control heat per zone with a more operational,
data-driven approach. It is built for homes where comfort, weather, room
behavior and energy use should be handled together instead of as isolated
thermostat changes.
The app uses room temperature, target temperature, heating demand, window
state, presence, schedules and weather forecasts to decide when a zone
should heat, hold back or prepare for an upcoming comfort period.
Why use Smart heating?
- More stable comfort in each room or heating zone
- Predictive preheating before scheduled comfort periods
- Weather-aware decisions based on outdoor temperature, wind and solar gain
- Protection against overheating, short cycling and open-window waste
- Clear zone status, demand, reason and effective mode on each device
- Flow cards for sensors, heating actuators and automation logic
- Commissioning, rollout and audit tools for safer tuning over time
Zone thermostat
Create a zone thermostat for each room or heating area. Choose the heating
profile that matches the system, such as underfloor heating or radiator
heating, and define comfort, eco, night, holiday and frost temperatures.
Each zone calculates its own demand and exposes useful values such as call
for heat, demand percentage, effective mode, window state and current
control reason.
Weather service
The weather service supplies outdoor temperature, wind, solar radiation,
weather state, data quality and location source. It can use Homey's own
location or a manually selected location.
Predictive control
Smart heating can start heating before a scheduled comfort period when the
room and system behavior show that it is needed. It can also avoid or stop
heating when forecast, room trend or solar gain indicate that continued
heating would likely overshoot the target.
Professional operation
The app is designed to be understandable in daily use. It shows why heat is
requested, when predictive control is active, whether fallback protection is
used, and whether a zone is ready for more advanced operation.
Built for serious Homey installations
Smart heating is best suited for users who want heating automation that is
more stable, explainable and energy-aware than simple time schedules.
Runs locally on Homey Pro. Weather forecasts are fetched from Open-Meteo.
