Eltako

Founded in 1949, Eltako is a family-owned German manufacturer of building automation and electrical installation solutions. The company bridges the gap between traditional, robust electrical engineering and modern smart home technology.

Rather than focusing solely on consumer electronics, Eltako designs durable, professional-grade, and installer-friendly smart devices. Their hardware serves as the reliable, unseen backbone of a connected building, ensuring long-term stability for smart home infrastructures.

Professional Building Automation

Eltako has a long history of innovation in the electrical sector, beginning with their invention of the first impulse switch in the 1950s. Over the decades, they have continuously expanded their expertise, developing a vast array of DIN-rail and flush-mounted devices, including relays, dimmers, and energy meters.

Eltako engineers its hardware primarily for the professional market. As a result, the company prioritizes extreme longevity, safety, and reliability of their devices. Electricians wire these components directly into the building, which creates a permanent, rock-solid building foundation. Furthermore, Eltako also utilizes EnOcean energy-harvesting technology. This allows their maintenance-free, battery-less wireless switches to seamlessly complement the permanent wired installation.

Versatile Switching and Dimming Solutions

A core part of Eltako’s modern smart home offering is their extensive range of actuators designed for the essential pillars of home control: switching, dimming, and shading. To accommodate different installation requirements, these devices are available in multiple form factors.

The portfolio includes centralized DIN-rail modules, like the Series 14, that install directly into the electrical distribution board. For localized control, Eltako offers compact, flush-mounted modules. The Series 64, for example, sits neatly behind existing wall switches or inside junction boxes. What's interesting is that Eltako Series 64 modules can also be used as Matter bridges, bringing other devices like the EnOcean line-up to Homey via Matter.

To control this wired infrastructure, Eltako provides a wide variety of accessories and wireless transmitters. The ecosystem features battery-free wireless wall buttons, dimmers, and fan controllers, alongside a selection of matching cover plates to fit different interior styles.

Additionally, Eltako offers a comprehensive suite of sensors, including temperature, brightness, motion, and proximity sensors. This hybrid approach combines robust wired actuators with versatile wireless controls and sensors. As a result, the system easily adapts to both new builds and clean retrofitting projects. You can place physical switches exactly where you need them, completely eliminating the need to pull new cables.

Eltako x Homey – Expanding Smart Home Capabilities

Thanks to the Matter standard, Eltako’s smart devices connect seamlessly to Homey Pro and Homey Pro mini. This integration allows you to control your professionally installed wired lighting, motorized shades, and climate systems directly from the Homey app, alongside devices from hundreds of other brands.

You can use a battery-free Eltako push button to trigger any Homey Flow. For example, press a wall switch by the door to turn off your lights, lower a smart thermostat, and lock the front door. With Eltako and Homey, you get the best of both worlds: a rock-solid, professional wired infrastructure combined with the total flexibility of a modern smart home.
