AirGradient
AirGradient is a Thailand-based company founded out of a pressing need for accessible and reliable air quality monitoring. The 2019 Thai wildfires, in particular, exposed and highlighted the devastating effects of air pollution, driving AirGradient founders Achim and Nick to take action.
About AirGradient
AirGradient’s mission is simple: to provide open, transparent, and accessible air quality data to individuals and communities worldwide. Since its founding, AirGradient has gradually grown into a team of over fifteen members. Many of these members have connections to air quality issues, making the mission feel deeply personal and urgent.
As an impact-driven organization, AirGradient prioritizes social difference over profit. It embraces the power of open-source technology, offering communities and organizations tools to monitor, understand, and combat air pollution. Users can contribute to AirGradient’s open-source air quality tracking map, creating a shared, global resource for real-time air quality data tracking.
AirGradient offers two air quality monitors for comprehensive indoor and outdoor pollutant tracking. Their devices are designed for long-term use and have user-replaceable parts, reducing waste and lowering costs.
AirGradient ONE
The AirGradient ONE is an indoor solution that measures PM0.3, PM1.0, PM2.5, PM10, CO2, VOCs, NOx, temperature, and humidity. Compact and easy to use, it features a bright OLED display for clear readings and provides real-time data accessible through Homey. Suitable for any indoor space, such as bedrooms or offices, the Air Gradient ONE delivers precise insights while allowing users to control and share their data. Built with durability in mind, it includes high-quality, replaceable components.
AirGradient uses high-quality sensor modules from industry leaders like SenseAir, Sensirion, and Plantower. Every sensor undergoes a multi-step testing and calibration process to ensure the highest accuracy of the data provided. The device is powered by a USB-C cable and can be wall-mounted or placed on a desk using optional clip-on legs.
AirGradient Open Air
The AirGradient Open Air offers robust real-time monitoring of the same pollutants for outdoor environments. The outdoor shell’s high-quality ASA plastic with a 2.4-millimeter thickness makes it UV and water-resistant. Designed to withstand harsh outdoor conditions, it contributes data to AirGradient’s crowd-sourced air quality map, helping communities identify local pollution hotspots.
The AirGradient OpenAir utilizes the same high-quality sensors as the AirGradient ONE, delivering precise and dependable air quality data. The design offers versatile installation, enabling wall mounting, pole attachment, or securing to surfaces with zip ties. For added security, the device also features a small locking hole to help protect against theft.
Air Quality Monitoring Meets Homey
Integrated with Homey, AirGradient devices enable users to monitor air quality parameters, including PM2.5, PM10, CO₂, VOCs, NOx, temperature, and humidity. These metrics are accessible in real-time through the Homey app, giving instant insights into indoor and outdoor air quality.
Utilizing the data from AirGradient devices within Homey, users can create Flows to enhance their living environment. For instance, when CO₂ levels rise, Homey can activate ventilation systems and notify users to open windows. Similarly, if the device identifies high particulate matter levels, Homey can automatically engage air purifiers to improve air quality. This integration empowers users to manage their indoor environment proactively, ensuring a healthier and more comfortable living space.
