Monitor the energy production and consumption of your house by connecting directly to your SMA equipment via your home network.
Use your SMA Energy Meter or Home Manager 2 as a smart meter in Homey Energy. Take action when you have a surplus (exporting energy). Report your energy production to PVOutput.org.
Supported devices
- Inverters
- Hybrid/Batteri inverters
- Energy Meter (incl. Home Manager 2)
- Energy Summary
Ambition is to support all inverters manufactured by SMA, including the new Smart Energy hybrid inverters.
Energy Meter
The Energy Meter device type supports both the Energy Meter and the Home Manager 2.0 products. Both products generate the same multicast datagrams required to access the built-in meter information.
This device type will be recognized in Homey as a smart meter and visualized properly on the energy tab.
Energy Summary
The Energy Summary is a virtual device that gathers information from inverter and energy meter devices registered in your Homey. It will only display information from inverters and energy meter devices from this app. It shows four values; PV Power, Grid Power, Battery Power, and Consumption.
PVOutput
Report your inverter(s) status to PVOutput.org.

Set the export limit to Limit (%)
i
The limit is set in percentage of the total power of all PV inverters connected to the Home Manager device. The Home Manager device needs to be configured for this to work.
Inverter
Set the target power W
i
This also switches the target power mode to Homey. For EV chargers, charging is automatically started or stopped.
Inverter
Curtail active power to Percent (0–100) % of the manual power limit
i
Writes a curtailment percentage to register 40023. The value is applied as a fraction of the manual power limit (register 40915), e.g. 50 % of a 5000 W limit = 2500 W.
This is SMA's intended pattern for repeated/automated power control and does NOT wear the flash memory.
PREREQUISITES: External control must be enabled and a fallback value/time configured in EnnexOS or Sunny Portal beforehand. If no write occurs within the fallback time (typically 10 min), the inverter automatically returns to 100 %. Sufficient user rights (installer level) are required to enable external control.
Inverter
Limit the active power output to Power (W)
i
Writes the manual active power limit to the inverter's flash memory (register 40915).
WARNING: SMA's flash memory has a finite write count. After ~1000 lifetime parameter writes the inverter restricts further changes to 1 per 20 operating hours, to protect the hardware from final damage.
Use this action sparingly (e.g. one-time setup or rare adjustments). For continuous or flow-based control, use the 'Set active power curtailment (%)' action instead, which writes to a dedicated curtailment register without flash wear.
Widgets
You can add this app’s widgets to your dashboard or homescreen in the mobile app.
Version 2.9.0 — New action 'Set active power curtailment (%)' for repeated/automated inverter control without flash memory wear (writes register 40023). Requires external control to be enabled in EnnexOS or Sunny Portal beforehand. The existing 'Limit the active power output' action remains for one-time setup; its hint now clearly warns about flash wear with repeated use.
